Off Hours Coding provides flexible car subscriptions from our hub at 58 Station Road, Reading, RG1 1JX. By using our website or booking a vehicle, you agree to follow these rules. We keep our terms simple and written in plain English. No complex legal fluff or corporate jargon here. Since 2021, we have managed a fleet of 34 vehicles for 47 active members in the Berkshire tech community. If you do not agree with any part of these terms, you should not use our subscription service. We update these rules occasionally to stay in line with UK driving regulations. Drive what fits your calendar and follow the local laws. It is that simple.

You must be at least 31 years old to join our community. You also need to have held a full UK driving license for at least 4 years. We perform a DVLA check for every new member to look for major points or recent claims. Honestly, we have to be strict about this. It is the only way we can keep insurance rates low for everyone else in the group. Sarah Hedges handles the verification process at our Reading hub. We cannot offer a subscription if your driving record does not meet our insurance criteria. We also require proof of a home address within the Reading area or surrounding Berkshire postcodes.

Our standard Executive Membership costs £845 per month. This is a recurring service, not a loan. One monthly bill covers everything including comprehensive insurance, road tax, and breakdown cover. Your membership includes a 1,000-mile allowance each month. If you exceed this limit, a standard per-mile charge applies. We handle all maintenance, including servicing and tyre replacements, at our Station Road office. You are responsible for the cost of fuel or electric charging. There is no long-term debt associated with this service. It will not show up as a major liability on your personal credit file, keeping your borrowing power high for mortgages.

Your membership allows for one free car swap every 30 days. You can keep a sedan for your work week and swap for the weekend if you want a sports coupe or an SUV. Swaps must be booked 48 hours in advance through our member app. All handovers happen at our hub near Reading Station. We timed the process last month and the average swap took just 13 minutes. You must return the car with a full tank of fuel and clear of personal rubbish. If you need to swap vehicles more than once a month, we charge a flat £47 fee to cover the valeting and safety inspection costs for the next driver.

Every car in our fleet of 34 is covered by 24/7 roadside assistance across the UK. If you experience a mechanical fault, we will provide a taxi for your journey and a replacement vehicle within 4 business hours. You are responsible for any damage to the vehicle while it is in your care, including kerbed alloys or interior stains. We charge a standard insurance excess for any successful claims. Please report any accidents or scrapes to Julian Thorne immediately so we can manage the repairs. We expect our members to take reasonable care of the cars to ensure they stay in top condition for the whole community.

We built Off Hours Coding to offer a smarter alternative to rigid 3-year leases. You can pause or cancel your subscription at any time with 30 days' notice. There are no exit fees and no hidden penalties for ending your membership early. To close your account, simply return the keys and the vehicle to our Reading office on the agreed date. We will settle any outstanding traffic fines, congestion charges, or toll fees against your final statement. Once the car is inspected and the final bill is paid, your commitment ends. It is a practical way for entrepreneurs to stay mobile without the burden of ownership.
